It’s #TransformationWeek in the Lifting Room In House Open!
It’s important to remember that ‘transformation’ doesn’t always have to be obvious, and most importantly it’s not always about what other people can see. We often get too focused on the physical benefits of exercise and a lot of the time, the transformation it provides is internal and it can be about having a shift in MINDSET!
What better way to get this across than with Coach Sqotty’s take on his transformation since joining the Lifting Room community!
“I’m not someone who takes a lot of photos of myself or tracks my progress physically as I don’t always see a change but, a number of people have said that it would be a great idea to look back and reflect on my progress, and what better time to do it than when the the Lifting Room members are doing it too.
This week is transformation week and even though I don’t have a fantastic story of ‘body transformation’, I feel that with the help of CrossFit I have transformed the way I feel and think about my body and how it looks – and that is just a part of the transformation the Lifting Room provides!
The community I have had the pleasure of being a part of for the last 2 ½ years is always there to build your confidence and make you believe in yourself - not to mention the fact that it allows you to learn new skills like Olympic Lifts and Gymnastics. Before starting I had never picked up a barbell in my life, skipped or done a handstand…now, I can lift over my bodyweight in a Clean and Jerk, I can do; 100 double-unders in a minute, handstand push ups and walk on my hands!
The great thing about it is, these are just a couple of the things that have helped my transformation but the list is endless and every single thing that Lifting Room provides helps transform our lives in one way or another!”
What I hope we can all take away from the 6-week challenge we've been working towards is the power of teamwork, knowing you can achieve great things with the right mindset and no matter what you are going through, you are never alone.
