The evolution of Lifting Room CrossFit

November 9, 2017

A dream which for Owner Sophie started in Darwin, Australia in 2011 was turned into a reality when Lifting Room CrossFit was created in July 2016. After visiting The Depot, formerly The Royal Ordnance Depot on Monday 4th April 2016, Sophie realised unequivocally that it was the perfect location for her CrossFit box. It's military background, extraordinary exterior, open space and large light filled interior with it's vast ceiling cemented her decision to open in the small village of Weedon Bec, Northamptonshire.

Within 3 months, we had transformed the once military site into our new home, Lifting Room CrossFit. We were ready for the friends and family joining us on the Open Day, along with a group of people booked to try our Complimentary CrossFit class, some of whom are still members today and one even a member turned Coach, Sqott (Scott)!

We have had the pleasure of welcoming so many wonderful people into our community, enabling us to build a space for caring and committed individuals who come together to improve their fitness, but most importantly to have fun!

Their continued support and generosity has enabled us to help fundraise into the thousands for charities which lay close to our hearts such as; Breast Cancer Care, Macmillan Cancer Support, The Stroke Association and The Ambulance Service. We hope to continue this support for many more funds into the future.

Not only have we been able to support charities, we've have continued to put back into our community, our facility and it's equipment. So far we have added more classes, including Yoga from Body Equilibrium Yoga Therapies, Olympic Lifting and Endurance. How can we forget the Assault Air Bikes, new 20m of turf, prowlers, yoke, sandbags, bumper plates, dumbbells, wall ball targets, climbing & battle ropes, rig extensions and our pegboard. The gym floor has grown by 55sq.m, the lights are brighter and the bells at the top of the ropes have been one of our favourite additions. Without each and everyone of you, none of this would have been possible.

A note from Owner and Head Coach Sophie.

My passion for our gym is burning strong, everyday I walk in I am still in awe of the space and environment I get to call work. Seeing it's growth in terms of equipment, the variety and further enjoyment it brings to our programming and classes is fantastic, however the greatest feeling and reward is (and the list really is endless) seeing our member's smiles when they walk through the door, their tears of joy at a new personal best, hugs for the people they haven't seen at a WOD in while, high fives at the end of a class, and the messages of love and gratitude.

To Mum, Dad, Callum, Scott, Graham & Will, our members and their families, the further community, and the friends and the family who have supported the business and I through it's first 16 months of operation, thank you!

Lots and lots of love, Sophie xxx
